dc.description.abstract | The author argues that the civilian community and its resources will have to be involved in any Australian defence contingency; that planning for national security should intimately involve the community at regional levels; and that national development and national security are indivisible and, hence, planning for both should proceed hand-in-hand. To illustrate his propositions, the author reviews Australia's defence posture in the context of developments in the civil infrastructure in selected regions - North Queensland, Northern Territory, and the Kimberley and Pilbara regions of Western Australia. | en_AU |
