    Following a survey of health and health needs in the South-East planning region of South Australia, a further survey on the same topics was conducted in the Elizabeth planning region. Eight areas of health and health care services were investigated; immunization, dental care, use of medications, pre-school children's health, general health status, use of and attitudes towards cigarettes and alcohol, family planning services and general well-being of and services to the elderly such as home nursing, meals etc. Medications investigated included pain killers, sleeping tablets, nerve tablets, laxatives and other medications as specified by the respondent; fluoride and the pill were excluded. Background variables included years in district, home ownership, relationship to head of house, sex, age, marital status, major activity, occupation of head of house, race and annual income.

    In the five provinces of Eastern Indonesia (Nusatenggara Barat, Nusatenggara Timur, Timor Timur, Maluku and Irian Jay a), the agricultural share of employment is particularly high, reaching a maximum of 76 per cent in NTT, the highest in any Indonesian province.
