dc.description.abstractIn this part of Mines, Wines and People I go on to tell a series of little stories of one kind or another about original landholders of the period 1821-1856 in the five main valleys of Greater Cessnock: (1) the South Arm of Wollombi Brook and the Cockfighter (or Lower Wollombi Brook); (2) the North Arm of Wollombi Brook; (3) Black Creek and Anvil Creek; (4) Deep or Swamp Creek; and (5) Mulbring or Wallis Creek.
