Before Valentino became visible in the market, the only magazine that somehow attracted gay readers was Chika-Chika, showbiz-orientated magazine with a gay slant. Hence this became popular among Filipino gay men, specifically what we call the “parlor gays” or gays who worked in beauty parlors, act very effeminately and sometimes even cross-dress.en_AU
